Hopen Outdoors Design Details

Our modern oasis in the Hollywood Hills, the Hopen House epitomizes a design for living indoors, then outdoors, and then back in again, with ease. We would like to share with you the resources and designers that contributed to this project - starting outdoors.

The outdoor living space offers the eye thin wafers of color with “sun beds” in electric green by Paola Lenti. Also, flat planes, angles, and surfaces of stone flow to the smooth water of the pool, to the horizon line, and to the over-the-edge view.

In the house, a ceiling-high wall-sized sliding glass door opens up the kitchen to the outdoor dining area, where a steel-framed roof protects the exterior dining and seating spaces; its wood ceiling matching the wood floor tones from the interior.

Above this outdoor dining area hangs a glowing box of light, a Cubrik 100 Suspension lamp acquired through Santa & Cole, that illuminates the Indian Ocean dining table and chairs. This stainless steel and teak table can be extended to accommodate more guests.

Meanwhile, dinner can be cooking outdoors on the X Series Island Barbeque by Porsche Design Studio, purchased through Barbeques Galore. And after dinner, no need to hurry indoors. Sit for a while in the low, sleek, deep purple couch that looks out over the pool and city lights view below.

Adding to the living room feel-with-a-twist, is a standing lamp from Tango Lighting, called "TXL."
