modern architect palm springs
Palm Springs and the broader Coachella Valley, including Indian Wells, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and La Quinta are design hubs that share a strong legacy of modern architecture, clear light, expansive views, and luxury resort style living. As a modern architect in Palm Springs and the surrounding desert communities, we design custom luxury homes that balance indoor outdoor living with the realities of life in the desert climate. Spacious interiors that seamlessly transition onto outdoor pool terraces, fire and water features that enliven landscapes, clean lines that frame mountain vistas, and luxury spa style amenities all support the relaxed, luxurious lifestyle that the Palm Springs region is known for. To complete the private retreat feel, natural light filled lower levels (anti-basements), easier to cool in hot weather, provide room for entertainment and wellness options, like home theaters, wine bars, dance floors, home gyms, game rooms, and salons.
To address the desert’s bright light and extreme temperatures, which can shift rapidly from hot to cold, we integrate passive cooling strategies, high-performance glazing, and deep overhangs into our designs. Smart home technologies, like remotely controlled window shades, windows, and doors further protect against seasonal rains, and the variable desert climate, while solar power and battery storage take advantage of the abundant desert sun, and greywater systems support sustainable landscape strategies.
With experience designing modern homes throughout the Palm Springs area, we understand the region's unique environmental and technical challenges, from managing intense sun exposure, dryness, heat, to the potential for high winds and heavy rains, and the need for maximizing views, and designing for year around outdoor living. We provide full-support architectural services for the range of site conditions found throughout the Palm Springs area, for both private homeowners and developers, and work closely with permit expediters, engineers, and land use consultants familiar with local regulations and building standards. We also have extensive experience designing custom homes that meet the requirements of neighborhood HOAs. Whether the site is a golf course, mountain foothill, or wide, sun-filled lot, our goal as a Palm Springs modern architect is to create luxury resort style homes that live comfortably, are attuned to the rhythms of the desert, and connected to the outdoors, while being customized for the unique vision and lifestyles of our clients. Every project is approached with practical expertise, technical knowledge, and a modern design sensibility.

bighorn
In order to provide views of water from every vantage point in the house (a client request), Bighorn’s indoor outdoor design opens onto reflecting pools in the entryway, which come right up to the edge of the house, and an infinity pool in the back, which looks out on desert views. This resort style home in Palm Desert, California features kitchen and dining areas both indoors, and on the outdoor pool terrace, and a glass wall primary bedroom that also opens directly onto the pool. Guest bedrooms each open onto their own private terrace.
serenity
Serenity, a luxury modern estate in Indian Wells, California, features an open volume design full of striking displays of modern art, luxury cars, and fine wines. Located in The Vintage community, the design was required to be only one story high. To achieve the spaciousness of a two-story design, a lower level, naturally lit by large front and rear sunken courtyards, was created. This entertainment level houses a modern open plan garage with luxury car collection, home theater, zen garden, pool table, and dance floor. On the main level of the house, sliding glass walls open the indoor outdoor design to a resort style pool terrace that looks out on desert mountain views.
