Modern resort style homes are retreats from the outside world, places to live out nearly every facet of our lives, in the comfort and privacy of our own space. Home movie theaters (and media rooms) complement this luxurious mode of living, inviting us to unwind and relax, escape the day, explore, and get inspired, without having to go anywhere.
Looking through our design archives at the number of projects and the terrific clients we’ve enjoyed serving over the years, nearly four decades has added up to a body of work that we’re excited to share!
Luxury resort style living doesn’t require an enormous home or modern estate, it can be enjoyed in as little as 5,000-10,000 square feet.
Open volumes add spaciousness to a home, and skylights bring in floods of natural light. Together these signature design elements create a bright and modern living environment.
The name originally arose in the 18th century for a small closet-like space in the house where guests could go to have their wigs re-powdered, containing essentially a chair, mirror and perhaps a vanity.
Many of our clients are passionate about art and have collections they wish to bring to their new home. These collections include paintings, photographs, sculpture, pottery, rugs, and mixed-media, and are important reflections of their personal aesthetic and history.
A house open to the outdoors is now a staple of modern residential design and is a defining hallmark of Whipple Russell’s design for a West Coast lifestyle.
Pools, as seen from the air, miles of cool blue dots, glittering diamonds of leisure and communion, became a central modern character in many of David Hockney’s 1960’s and ‘70s paintings.
We are very pleased to be working again with renowned sculptor Richard Erdman. Our first partnership was for our Trousdale project, where his Serenade presides over the entrance.
