modern architect beverly hills

Beverly Hills is known for its exclusivity and luxury lifestyle, but it’s also a calm, family friendly neighborhood with wide tree-lined streets, and properties with generous setbacks, and gardens, making it the perfect setting for year around indoor outdoor living. As a modern architect in Beverly Hills we design custom homes throughout the city with luxury features that include spacious light filled interiors, sweeping views, sliding glass walls, modern artwork displays, resort style pool terraces, and water and fire features. In larger houses with open plan designs spread over several floors, our “living small” approach ensures a home’s inhabitants still feel a sense of connection with one another, via view corridors and open sight lines. Light filled lower levels (our anti-basements), easier to cool in warmer weather, provide additional space for entertainment and wellness options, like home theaters and home gyms, especially helpful in homes located in neighborhoods with strict height limits. For sustainable options, solar power, grey water systems, and smart home technologies can all be included in our luxury home designs. Each Beverly Hills project is a custom home tailored to the unique vision and lifestyle of our clients.

Having worked as a Beverly Hills modern architect over many years, including in Trousdale Estates, who have their own specific guidelines and restrictions, we understand the challenges of building in this part of Los Angeles, from the steep hillside conditions and complex view corridors, to the need for privacy and security, while maximizing the views. Additionally, wildfire risk must be assessed, especially in hillside locations. We work with land use consultants, permit expediters, engineers, and specialists familiar with Beverly Hills’ local regulations to streamline the process, for both private homeowners and developers. Whether perched hillside, ridgetop, on a private lot in the flats, or in a neighborhood governed by an HOA, our Beverly Hills luxury homes are approached with practical expertise, technical knowledge, and a modern design sensibility.

trousdale

Set within the Trousdale Estates in Beverly Hills, our Trousdale house is a custom luxury home that blends modern architectural lines with textures that echo the surrounding natural landscape. Stacked stone walls and a smooth marble sculpture by artist Richard Erdman greet visitors at the entrance, while inside, glass walls open the home to sweeping views. Trousdale incorporates our “living small” approach with its central open volume atrium that allows a natural flow of light and visual connection between the different floors, filling the home with a sense of openness and connection.

laurel way

Located on a hilltop with long, uninterrupted views in Beverly Hills, Laurel Way is a modern home designed for indoor outdoor luxury living. Three sculpted tiers of greenery, and two river-like water channels wrap around the house, giving it the look and feel of a luxury retreat elevated high above the city. The moat-style swimming pool adds a feeling of tranquility, as it provides a protective border to the home, without impeding the views, which on a clear day can reach all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

benedict canyon 2023

It’s always interesting to see how our designs evolve with the changing lifestyles that come with new ownership. Our Benedict Canyon 2023 house, a luxury modern home in Beverly Hills, was originally designed with an open floor plan for indoor outdoor entertaining, and areas for large-scale artwork displays. Years later, the house retains its modern architectural design, but interior spaces have been reimagined, and the landscape has matured. New additions include a light filled, glass walled yoga studio / workout room, and a dedicated home office.

benedict canyon 2016

Our Benedict Canyon 2016 luxury home in Beverly Hills was designed for a client in the sports world, who wanted a modern resort style home for entertaining, that would also include a photography studio, and gallery space for displaying his large scale artworks. Indoor outdoor living played a central role in the design, with sliding glass walls throughout the home, guest rooms opening directly onto the pool terrace, and indoor water features that bring the outdoors inside. A rooftop terrace above the family room adds additional space for gathering, with ping pong, sun loungers, and a stone fireplace.

summit house

Summit House is a modern Beverly Hills home designed with sustainability, spaciousness, and family connection at its core. The clients wanted a luxury home that, though expansive, would still allow them to feel closely connected with one another when in it. We applied our “living small” approach, and shaped a floor plan full of open sight lines and view corridors for a modern home that balances luxury living with architectural openness, and family closeness. The home’s double-height glass walls, solar power array, gray-water reclamation system, and passive solar strategies made it the first project approved under the City of Beverly Hills’ Green Building Ordinance.
